Christmas is here, bringing good cheer

Today I was a part of the Northside Church’s Christmas Choir. We did this amazing rendition of Carol of the Bells, complete with 50 person 4 part choir, an amazing band and the beautiful Chare David on the Grand Piano.

It was an interesting thing to be part of. It was frustrating most of the time. What with song changes at the last minute etc, but I think in the end, it was worth it. It sounded really good and I think the effect was just what was needed.

I think lots of things in life are like that, sometimes the journey isn’t everything you wished it to be. You get frustrated, taken for granted, upset, tired. But I think, if you choose to be  part of something worthwhile, no matter how the journey is, the destination is worthwhile. I want my life to sound good, and I want it to affect people’s lives and for it to be just what they need.

Christmas Love to everyone.

Twilight – and all that hype

So I started reading Twilight last night. It’s the first book in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. But like you didn’t know that already.

I’ve been hearing about Twilight for a while now.. but I’ve been hearing about Edward Cullen for longer what with all the Team

Twilight

Edward business you see about the place, mainly facebook. When I started to see movie ads I looked it up on wikipedia to at least get a general outline of the plot so I could try and figure out what all the insanity was about. Didn’t really grab me.. I’m not really a vampire type person.

Anyway, my Mum’s work friends bought her the first book to read while she recovers with the intention of reading it to see if it was suitable for my younger sister. I offered to read it for Mum (didn’t really strike me as her type of novel either) to help her out, but also to satisfy a little curiosity. What was it about this book that made so many people crazy about it?

I started last night and I’m nearly half done. I’m still not really sure what it all is, but it is fairly addictive. I’ve always been a bit addictive with books anyway, and if I had have had all day, I’m sure the book would be basically finished. It’s actually pretty good, enjoyable anyway. I’m not sure why. But it is.  It bugs me when people judge something or someone before they know anything about it – so here I am, checking it out before I judge it.

I’ll come back and edit this post later if I change my mind, but I think I’ve enjoyed it enough to go and watch the movie now. I hate being one of the billions and millions of people who jump on some bandwagon, especially if you jump on it late – but hey, what’s good is good.

Shoes

I really love shoes.

I know that’s a pretty cliche thing for a girl to love, next thing you’d expect me to say is that I love handbags. Well.. that’s also true, I do love handbags. But I’ve never really been a shoe person until lately. I only had a few different kinds, a sandal or two, a heel or two, a variety of ballet flats. But I never really appreciated shoes. I never understood what the hype was about. I think I understand now. I really really love shoes.

I mean.. maybe not on the love Jesus level, or the love my friends and family level. But I really like them.

Shoes I love

I found this pair on chictopia a little while ago. And I still just love them.

Sayings that frustrate

Hello lovely bloggers,

I arrived at work today to receive a very frustrating email, that perhaps deserves a post of its own (once I have cleared by head so I don’t go totally crazy online) but since I am frustrated somewhat, I thought I should at least express the frustration outwardly. And so.. my list of sayings and words etc that frustrate me.. Feel free to comment and add your own!

  • Cheers
  • Forget my head if it wasn’t screwed on
  • Cute as a button
  • If the shoe fits
  • Laters or laterz as ‘cool’ people say
  • Raining Cats and Dogs
  • Use your inside voice
  • Totes – I think this means totally. Either way.

No offense to anyone who uses these words or phrases from time to time. I’m sure I’ve used them before. Except for totes.

Love,

Steffany

Desktop

I’ve been pretty slack lately and haven’t been changing my desktop much less uploading my desktop pictures.. but here is today’s desktop. Christmas orientated of course. Because I love Christmas and I love this picture. Sure, it’s not my fireplace.. but it sure is pretty.

A Tasmania House Christmas

Tegan, Emma and myself named our unit ‘The Tasmania House’.

It is named this mainly because Tegan and Emma were born and lived all their lives in Tasmania.. and I lived there for a about 6 years. Hold the Tasmanian jokes please.

This Christmas will be our first Tasmania House Christmas, and sadly, our last as we are all off on our separate ways next year. But I thought I’d post the picture, because I think it’s a decent achievement for my first Christmas tree. In inherited it from my parents, who bought it the year I was born. So I guess it’s symbolic or something.

Christmas Tree

Mr Swanborough

My friend Blaine is pretty talented. He’s a great friend, is funny, sensible, wise, a good public speaker, is a good cook and is very considerate. However the things he is most known for are his wonderous abilities to make wonderful coffee and his musician-ish skills.

You can check out his coffee blog here – and you can check out his mad poetry skills here.

Truth.MyHeart.MyMind

I do not believe my heart and believing in truth is truly an art,
When the feelings have gone, when the pain has passed,
Truth is still true, but wrong yet again, was my heart.

I do not believe my mind as it so easily conforms to the daily grind,
When my heart fights to be free, and to express itself creatively.
The daily grind still imprisons my mind, and I continue on in apathy.

My heart and my mind both confuse and deceive,
They betray the confidence that they receive,
They cause me to grieve over the temporary.
Continually on the wrong path they lead.
Only in truth should my heart and mind believe.

Great website

Hi ladies!

Men.. feel free to read.. but I don’t know how interesting this site will be to you.

I’ve recently joined chictopia. It’s great. It’s essentially like flickr but for clothes and fashion. People join, upload pictures of themselves (or just inspirational pictures of models/fashion icons) in their day to day outfits.. and then people comment and you get to have a browse around at what different people are doing with different items of clothes.

I am yet to upload anything.. but I’m really enjoying looking around at what is ‘fashionable’ and I’m getting lots of wardrobe ideas. Yes.. it’s another online community to join.. but for those really interested in fashion. This is a good one!
