Her blog is better than mine

Life gives people a bit of grief at times I think. I think life can really give girls in particular a lot of grief (although what would I know about the grief of a man?). One of the issues girls struggle with noticeably in their teens and then subtly in the early twenties etc is that whole jealousy issue. I think that we often sit there and think ‘her clothes are better than mine’, ‘her hair is better than mine’, ‘her boyfriend is better than my lack of boyfriend’  – you know, those kind of things. Now that we officially live and breathe technology, not only do we have to worry about shoes, figures, hair do’s and car’s.. we have blogs to worry about. That’s all I really struggle with at the moment.

Blog jealousy. I wonder if you suffer from it to?

Perhaps you don’t have a blog.. and the reason isn’t because you don’t have time, or you don’t feel like you have something to say, but that you truly think no one would read it. Perhaps you do have a blog and you know nobody reads it. Perhaps you have a blog and people read it and like it, but you’re one of those strange people who is jealous anyway. If you said a mental yes to any of the above then you probably suffer from blog jealousy.

In the spirit of trying to get over my blog jealousy.. check out my friends blogs who are better than mine.

Laura Fraser – has a great all rounder blog, I’m jealous

Emily Averill – has some awesome art and thoughts, I’m jealous

Sarah Starrenburg – has insight and wisdom, I’m jealous

and you should check out Will’s blog — simply because it’s a good blog.

Identity

On Sunday night Ps Murray spoke a message entitled ‘Finding Your Identity’. You can listen to it here.

He started the message with a small clip from The Man in the Iron Mask. I really had a craving to watch it after that and so I did. I love this quote from it.

Athos: We feared the mask would destroy you.

Phillippe: I wear the mask, it does not wear me.

Quite an epic movie really. If you haven’t seen it. See it.

A thought for the day

People who catch the train at 5.39am are actually much friendlier than people who catch the train at any other time of day.

I would have thought people that had to get up that early.. would be 5 times more cranky.  But no, they all greet you, make comments about the weather, let you have their seat. If it wasn’t such an early train – I’d catch it more often!

Favourites

I’ve got a new favourite TV show. Lately I’ve been watching a fair bit of TV. One, I’m not working full time at the moment and I’m not getting lots and lots of shifts. Two, I am in the middle of doing a couple of assignments and TV shows are much better to procrastinate with than movies.

Lately I’ve been watching The West Wing. I bought it for Blaine for Christmas, so now I’ve borrowed it back and I am really enjoying it. It’s a lot less trashy than all the TV shows I normally watch. It’s entertaining, thought provoking, humorous and provides a good insight into American Politics. The other great thing about it is.. it goes for many many seasons. I’ve just finished the first season and am onto the second season. Woohoo!

Another new favourite thing of mine, is orange pulp juice. You know.. the gritty stuff that most people probably don’t like. I bought a bottle of it the other day and it’s really good. Just mixing it up.

I also love socks. It’s starting to get a bit colder now.. and socks are the greatest things ever. We have hardwood floors at our house and it makes for wonderful sliding around the house. Walk a tiny bit faster than usual and I start skidding around the corners.. Most people know that heat escapes from your extremities.. so socks keep you warm! I know, I know — I’m pretty intelligent hey. I needed new socks anyway because I need black socks at work.. bought myself a lovely pack of 4 Bonds socks. There is nothing better than new socks!

Also.. Tom Welling is a genius. Been watching the new season of Smallville and I think he’s a bit legendary. Briliant skills.

Lost

For the last 24 hours my internet has been acting beyond slow. We’ve either reached our download limit (has never happened) or our network is down. It’s quite frustrating. I’ve been at home sick for the last week and other than sleeping, I’ve spent most of my time watching TV online. It’s been pretty great until now. It takes about 6 hours to download one episode, rather than 6 minutes. I’m fairly bored. I should be working on my assignments I guess, but the internet is so slow that it would be painstakingly pointless. I’ve watched everything that I already own. I’ve already coloured my hair today, made cupcakes and read a book. I’m pretty bored. How sad is it that when my internet is down, my life is down. So much of my life revolves around technology. But I guess there really isn’t an option of going backwards. Life will only get more technologically advanced, and you have to keep up with it otherwise you’re out of date. I wonder what would happen if I just stopped using a computer and my mobile. Like permanently…
