Quotes that make me think and that make me get up and do something!

Good things come to those who wait. Good things come to those who work their asses off and never give up.

The way to love anything is to realise that it may be lost. G.K Chesterton

Learn to let go of things you cannot control.

Fortify yourself with contentment, for this is an impregnable fortress. Epictetus

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ,[a] who gives me strength. – Philippians 4: 11-13

Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

You cannot dream yourself into a character: you must hammer and forge yourself into one. Henry D. Thoreau

The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up. Paul Valery

And once you live a good story, you get a taste for a kind of meaning in life, and you can’t go back to being normal; you can’t go back to meaningless scenes stitched together by the forgettable thread of wasted time. Donald Miller

I’ve gone for too long living like I’m not alive. So I’m going to start over tonight beginning with you and I. I don’t want to run from anything uncomfortable. I just want, no I just need this pain to end right here. Miracle – Paramore

Wait it Out

I’ve been neglecting my blog a little bit as of late so for those blog stalkers (yeah you know who you are!) of mine – I’m sorry. I’ll try and be a bit more consistent.

Went to Tasmania on the weekend and for a few extra days. Went for a wedding and a bit of a family holiday. I’ve got a lot of pictures so I might post them next time. Tried my hand a few nature-ish type shots.

Love this photo.

And sit here cold?
We’ll be long gone by then.
And lackluster in dust we lay
’round old magazines.
Fluorescent lighting sets the scene
For all we could and should be being
In the one life that we’ve got

Imogen Heap – Wait it Out

The Cherry Blossom Girl

Does anyone else have the words with friends ap on the iphone? It’s scrabble and you can play with your friends! It’s great!

I’ve got an assignment due on Monday that’s worth 60% of my grade, I started in yesterday. Whoops.

Going to see Paramore on Sunday night with Georgia. Relient K are supporting. Should be a pretty sweet gig. Hope my assignment is finished in time. And that it doesn’t rain.

Love Sophia Bush. Quite the hottness.

“There is no surprise more magical than the surprise of being loved. It is the finger of God on a man’s shoulder.” Charles Morgan

I love Friday’s. It’s so quiet in the office that I can steadily work whilst listening to my ipod, blogging and preparing mentally for assignmenting. Anyone is free to bring me study treats this weekend! I’ll be cooped up in the office at Mum’s for sure.

I’d sooner buy, defying gravity. Kiss me goodbye – I’m defying gravity! And you can’t hold me down! – Wicked

All I Wanted

Think of me when you’re out
When you’re out there
I’ll beg you nice from my knees
And when the world treats you way too fairly
It’s a shame I’m a dream

All I wanted was you

I think I’ll pace my apartment a few times
And fall asleep on the couch
And wake up early to black and white reruns
That escape from my mouth

All I wanted was you

I could follow you to the beginning
Just to relive the start
Maybe then we’d remember to slow down
At all of our favorite parts

All I wanted was you

Little Lyrics

Music is SUCH a powerful medium. Those who have that gift are lucky indeed.

Music that’s been meaning something to me lately…

Anberlin – A Whisper and a Clamor

For most who live and breathe, hell is never knowing who they are now. Tell me who you are now.

It’s not the lies that you sing – but what the silence will scream.

Snow Patrol – Make this go on forever

The weight of water, the way you told me to look past everything I had ever learned

And I don’t know where to look, my words just break and melt, please just save me from this darkness.

Paramore – Crush Crush Crush

They taped over your mouth, scribbled out the truth with their lies. You little spies.

Hillsong Live – This is love

All creation will bow as one, lift their eyes see the risen Son.

Let our voices rise and sing for all He’s done. Our fear is overcome. Our God is love.

AND just loving Yellow Brick Road by Angus and Julia Stone.

If ever anyone needed to convince me into loving them, just sit and play and sing me that song over and over.

September Summary

Books Read: Max Lucado – No Wonder they call Him Saviour & Max Lucado – Six Hours One Friday

Clothes Bought: I bought a birthday dress and shoes. Yikes those shoes are painful, but beautiful.

Consumed Music: I got some itunes vouchers for my birthday, so I purchased a bit of music this month. I also made a 21st playlist, which meant I downloaded a classic song from every year I was born. Some highlights included Seal – Kissed by a Rose, Simply Red – If you dont’ know me by now, and Destiny’s Child – Bootylicious. With the vouchers I bought the new Paramore album – can’t wait to see them live. And also a few other random songs from The Almost, Alexisonfire who I’ll also be seeing live next year.

Birthdays: Birthdays are pretty big in September. Happy Birthday to Aunty Kerrie, Nathan, Amy, Kelly, Beth, Dave, Sarah, Chetti and most likely others.  Highlights were obviously Laura’s 21st party, which was black and white cocktail themed. Nathan’s 21st which saw hand made candleabra’s set on fire. And my own 21st — which saw my hair set on fire. Accidentally thankfully.

Films Watched: The Surrogates (pretty thought provoking) … and I think that’s all.

Lessons Learned: Lots of hard work and planning can’t necessarily guarantee a successful party. I think successful parties are basically flukes. Cakes can cost a fair bit. Fasting is difficult. Tea is amazing.

January Summary

I’ve decided to sum up each month here on my blog. I hope that I remember to do this at the end of every month. I think it’s a good way to take stock of the month and to remember how much or how little can happen in 4 weeks.

It’s actually hard to believe that it’s almost the end of January. I mean, it feels like days ago that we saw the new year in. Thankfully though, despite being a quick month, I have managed to get a few different things done.

Well – I bought a new car on the 2nd of January. And I moved out of Tasmania House a week after that. Who knew that cleaning a 3 bedroom unit could take so long! Then a week after that I moved into my brand spanking new place, well new for me. It’s awesome.

Books Read: New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Myer (yes I caved and read all of the other Twilight books – not bad hey), Sophie’s Heart by Lori Wick, Long Way Down by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, Becoming Me, It’s My Life & Who I am by Melody Carlson, Life Without Strife by Joyce Meyer, The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia, Threads of Silk by Linda Lee Chaikin and all of the Narnia Chronicles except for the Silver Chair and the Last Battle by C.S Lewis

Clothes Bought: Plain Black t-shirt and some jewellery. I did well this ‘christmas sales’ season and haven’t bought much in January.

Consumed Music: I got the One Tree Hill Soundtrack: Friends with Benefit. It’s pretty good. And I’m loving Paramore lately.

Films Watched: Twilight and Bride Wars. I think I’ll just do ones I’ve seen at the movies, watched too many others.

Recipies Mastered: Zero

Lessons Learned: People are offended easily, parents can become even more addicted to pop culture than you can, change is nearly as good as a holiday and money makes most of the world go around.

So I am doing well on my books resolution, but not so much on my recipies.

Hoping your January was swell and wishing you a better February.
